Job Description

We are hiring a Bioinformatics Analyst to support a global genomics initiative focused on expanding diverse genetic datasets. This role involves building and operating bioinformatics pipelines for long-read sequencing and methylation data , with a strong focus on data quality, reproducibility, and collaboration across international teams.

You will work closely with cross-functional scientists and global partners to ensure smooth data processing, accurate reporting, and scalable pipeline operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain bioinformatics pipelines for long-read sequencing (ONT) and methylation data
• Process raw sequencing data, perform QC checks , and identify data anomalies
• Execute workflows for variant calling and genomic data analysis
• Manage data ingestion and ensure efficient data flow across systems
• Maintain documentation for pipelines, QC metrics, and code using git
• Collaborate with global teams (including Africa-based teams) for data coordination
• Support continuous improvement of data processing workflows

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or related field
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in bioinformatics / genomics
• Strong experience with NGS pipelines and WGS data
• Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting
• Experience with HPC or cloud platforms (AWS)
• Familiarity with Oxford Nanopore (ONT) or long-read sequencing data
• Experience with workflow tools like Nextflow or Snakemake
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across time zones
